Introduction

Scope

This documentation refers to the standardized dedicated server types listed below.

We maintain and monitor the hardware, while you receive full access to hard drives and operating system.

Types

Performance specifications are defined by chosen server type.

An overview on available server types can be found in the corresponding section of the product page.

Storage

Each server is provisioned with at least two hard drives in a RAID1 array with an installed operating system.
After the initial order you can make changes as desired.

Firewall

In front of each server a stateless firewall is set up in our network infrastructure for basic protection from the internet.
We advise supplying source IPs for SSH access when ordering.
Afterwards rules of the firewall can be configured freely and in more depth.

Network Connectivity

Servers are connected by two network interfaces in a redundand LACP 802.3ad (active-active) bond - their uplink bandwidth depends on ordered server type. Through this redundancy we can maintain our network infrastructure without server connectivity loss. There is typically no reduction in bandwidth.

Traffic

We charge outgoing traffic which leaves our network infrastructure and exceeds the inclusive quantity of the server type. Traffic inbetween our products in our network infrastructure will not be charged.

There are no technical restrictions upon exceeding the inclusive quantity, neither by reduction in bandwidth nor by disconnecting of servers - they continue to function as usual.

Operating systems

We currently offer two recent versions each of Debian and Ubuntu LTS as pre-installed operating system.

Alternatively you can perform custom installations through our rescue system or directly with an ISO file.

Monitoring

Dedicated servers of the mentioned types are automatically monitored for hardware defects. Depending on the circumstances, the hardware defect is fixed proactively and without any further consultation (e.g. hot-swappable SSDs and power supplies). If a system downtime is necessary (e.g. RAM or fan defects), this maintenance will be carried out at a date agreed by you.
